2008

May:  Thanks go to the several members who represented CSH and homeopathy in general at the public protest against Bill C-51 in front of the Art Gallery in Vancouver, BC.

April:  CSH members celebrate another Homeopathy Awareness Week -- which goes on for the whole month of April!

March:  The Board appoints Rami Shami as representative on the Advisory Board of HomeoNet, a partner in the Canadian Interdisciplinary Network for CAM Research (IN-CAM).

2007

December:  The Board welcomes Donna Costa of London, ON to fill the position of Treasurer and Rami Shami of Toronto, ON to take over as head of Public Awareness & Education.  We also bid farewell with thanks to Juliana Barnard of Halifax, NS and Lisa Decandia of Toronto, ON who have had to resign due to other commitments.

November:  It is with great sadness that the Board reports the death of our dear colleague and friend -- and CSH Treasurer -- Brenda Malin, from complications resulting from myasthenia gravis.  A passionate and steadfast supporter of homeopathy and natural healing, Brenda joined the CSH Board in December 2006.  Donations in her memory will be added to the Brenda Malin Memorial Fund, which will be used to support causes that were dear to Brenda's heart.

October:  Ontario members Donna Costa and Kathy Desjardins attend an MoH information session on professional regulation on behalf of our Society.  At our suggestion, the Ontario Society of Homeopaths is also invited to participate and is represented by other CSH members, Karen Jonas and Karen Wehrstein.  All report a better understanding of the process involved in selecting a Transitional Council for the new professional Ontario College of Homeopaths.

September:  The Board approves a new Code of Ethics, Conduct, and Practice for our members.  Special thanks go to Judi Adema who worked on this project for over a year and to Louise Fridman who edited and revised the first draft of the document.

July:  CSH launches the first in a series of new members-only Let's Talk! teleconferences with a discussion on Regulation in Canada.

June:  Congratulations to the following CSH members whose HAW activities won prizes in the Homeopathy Awareness Week Participants' Draw:
First Prize ($100 discount on 2008 membership fee):  F. Joan Macdonald and Delia Pettit of Halifax, NS for their Information Booth at the Halifax Farmers' Market
Second Prize (CSH Public Education manual, Introducing Homeopathy):  Mark Phillips of Oshawa, ON for his Meet & Greet / Mini-clinic
Third Prize (100 brochures and bookmarks):  Heather Hawthorne of Edmonton, AB for her 20% discount on appointments booked during HAW.

May:  Judi Adema, head of CSH Professional Standards, has been invited to join the Board of Directors of the Council for Homeopathic Certification (CHC).  In this position, Judi will begin forging a new relationship between the two organizations.

April:  The CSH Board bids a warm farewell to Secretary and Political Action Director, Rami Shami, who resigned his position due to time constraints from other obligations.  Following standard protocol, the Board has nominated and approved Gaela Nelson of Nepean, ON to fill the vacancy created by Rami’s departure.  Welcome to the Board, Gaela!

March:  Plans for the 2007 Homeopathy Awareness Week are underway, this year featuring a fundraising raffle for prizes kindly donated by Minimum Price Homeopathic Books.

February:  The Board is pleased to announce our new Advertising Manager, Heather Hawthorne, who will be glad to hear from you about placing classified or display ads in our newsletter, Homeopathy Now.  Classified ads are specially-priced to help CSH members promote their special products or services.

January:  Your new Board of Directors has been hard at work this month, familiarizing ourselves with the issues facing homeopathy, the Society's activities, and the new responsibilities that each member has taken over.
