A. CSH NEWS
1. Board News
Your new Board of Directors has been meeting regularly – six times
since the beginning of the year – and working hard behind the scenes, in
areas such as: membership services, financial management, HAW, website,
newsletter, committees, Affiliation agreements, professional standards,
and regulation concerns in Ontario. For
highlights, see Society News on our website:
http://www.csoh.ca/CSH_News.htm.
2. Professional Regulation in Ontario
Homeopaths across Canada are concerned about the implications of
Ontario’s Bill 171, especially the proposed combined College of
Naturopaths and Homeopaths, which was presented to the Legislature last
December and is currently in its Second Reading.
The CSH Board is committed to opposing this proposal and we are
working on several fronts to convince the government to remove
homeopathy from this Bill. Read more about the current status and background of this
legislation, the CSH response to it, and pros and cons of professional
regulation in general at
http://www.csoh.ca/PA_Regulation_Ontario_Updates.htm.
The Ontario Society of
Homeopaths (provisional Affiliate of CSH) has sent out a survey to all
Ontario homeopaths and students to gauge support for regulation under
various circumstances. A copy
of the survey is available on the CSH website at
http://www.csoh.ca/PA_Regulation_Ontario_Updates.htm
and all homeopaths and students (in and out of Ontario) are being asked
to participate. If there
is enough opposition to Bill 171, these results may be helpful in
convincing the government to withdraw homeopathy from the proposed
combined college.
3. Homeopathy Awareness Week (HAW)

C. HOMEOPATHIC NEWS
1. Royal London Homeopathic Hospital
Concerns from the UK: The Royal London Homeopathic
Hospital (RLHH) is facing
serious political difficulties, as described in an open letter from Carol
Boyce, MCH, CCH, RSHom(NA), which has been
reprinted on our website at
http://www.csoh.ca/PA_Int'l_RLHH_2007.htm.
To express your opinions,
anyone can write the Queen, who is patron of the RLHH.
British citizens and residents, regardless of where they live in
the world, can sign an official e-petition that will be accepted by
Parliament. See
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/?SavetheRLHH/.
2. In Remembrance: Eric Sommermann
The homeopathic community mourns the loss of a bright light and inspiring
leader with the unexpected passing of Eric Sommermann, founder and dean of
the Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy in Minnesota. Eric
helped to resuscitate homeopathy in North America and breathed
it into the 21st century, training over 200 homeopaths and advocating for
the certification process. For
details and guest book, see

.
