A.  CSH NEWS
1.  Membership Renewal
It’s that time of year again, and most of you should have your renewal membership packages by now.  If you aren’t yet a member but would like a package please contact our Membership Secretary at homeopathy@csoh.ca.

2. Group Extended Health Insurance Benefits!
In a very exciting development, we are in the process of negotiating a group insurance plan for our membership who wish to purchase Extended Health Benefits for themselves and their families.  This extended benefits plan would include the usual dental, glasses, and CAM modalities – plus homeopathic care by homeopaths registered with CSH.  Access to this extended health benefits coverage will be available to interested patients as well, provided they became Supporting Members of CSH.  We expect that the premiums will be offered at competitive rates, especially as the number of subscribers increases.

3. Brenda Malin Memorial Fund
It is with great sadness that the Board reports the death of our dear colleague and friend – and CSH Treasurer – Brenda Malin, from complications resulting from myasthenia gravis.  A passionate and steadfast supporter of homeopathy, Brenda joined the CSH Board in 2006.

Donations in her memory will be added to the Brenda Malin Memorial Fund, which will be used to support causes that were dear to Brenda’s heart, such as supporting rural homeopaths.  You may have noticed on your renewal membership form an option to make a donation to this fund.

4. New Board Members
We are pleased to announce that two new members have been appointed to the CSH board.  Donna Costa, from Ontario, has taken over as our new Treasurer.  We are also welcoming back Rami Shami who had to leave us last spring and is now taking over as Head of Public Awareness & Education.  Learn more about Donna and Rami by clicking on their biography links.

5.  Let’s Talk!
Our next Let’s Talk! teleconference will be held Thursday, February 7, 2008, starting at 5 pm Pacific, 6 pm Mountain, 7 pm Central, 8 pm Eastern, 9 pm Atlantic.  The topic will be “Homeopathy Awareness Week: Questions and Answers About How to Get Involved”.

Please note that this 60 minute teleconference is available for CSH members only.  To reserve a line, send an e-mail to letstalk@csoh.ca with the Subject line “February Teleconference Reservation” and you will be sent dial-up instructions about 2 days prior to the event.  Although the teleconferencing service will be free, long-distance charges to Iowa will apply.

6.  Let’s Talk! Topics
What Society-related topics do you want to learn more about or discuss with CSH Board members?  Send your suggestions to letstalk@csoh.ca and they will be considered for future teleconferences.

For highlights of all Board and Society activities, refer to the Society News webpage on our website.

B.  AFFILIATE NEWS
1.  WCHS Announcements
West Coast Homeopathic Society reminds us that their next annual Conference/AGM is scheduled in Vancouver on Saturday, April 26, 2008.  Mark your calendars!

C.  HOMEOPATHIC NEWS
1.  Regulation in Ontario
Your Board is closely monitoring developments in Ontario arising from the passing of the Homeopathy Act, 2007.  Following an information session at the end of October, the government will next post positions for Registrar and members of the Transitional Council, probably within the next 2 months.  When that occurs, CSH will notify our professional and student members in Ontario with suggestions for those who would like to apply for these positions.

Updated information about the regulatory situation in Ontario is available on the CSH website.

2.  Council for Homeopathic Certification (CHC) Exams
Start preparing now for the CHC certification process leading to the coveted CCH credentials!  Next exam dates are:  March 1 and October 4, 2008.  (Exams are usually held on the first Saturday of March and October annually).  Check for application deadlines at the CHC website.

D.  VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
1.  Coordinator of Printed Directory Required
Are you an organized, thorough, and meticulous self-starter?  Do you have access to a computer with Microsoft Publisher compatibility?

CSH seeks a special individual to liase by e-mail with the Membership Secretary and Website Administrator to update the annual CSH Directory of Registered Homeopaths.  The position will involve between 20 to 40 hours of data entry and proof-reading during July and August to prepare the 2008-2009 issue for printing in September.

This opportunity is ideal for a CSH member who, due to location or other restrictions, is unable to participate in other homeopathic activities.  You will make a valuable contribution towards supporting our Society and collect important Professional Development Credits (PDCs) at the same time!  Please contact our office at 604-803-9242 or homeopathy@csoh.ca if you are interested.

E.  EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
1.  CSH Professional Development
Registered members can use Continuing Education opportunities to collect Professional Development Credits (PDCs) as part of their commitment to their practice, the Society, and the homeopathic profession.  Other homeopathic activities that qualify for PDCs are listed on the Professional Development webpage.

2.  Mark Your Calendars!
A broad diversity of educational opportunities is available in Canada this year.  Look for seminars with leading homeopaths - see details of coming events on our website Calendar of Educational Events.
