HOME >>NOTEWORTHY INDEX April 10, 2011: Happy Birthday, Samuel Hahnemann! Today marks the 256th year since the birth of Samuel Hahnemann (1755 - 1843). It also marks the beginning of the World Homeopathy Awareness Week, which is celebrated in countries around the world and, in Canada, is part of Homeopathy Awareness Month. The Hahnemann Memorial in Washington, DC, commemorates the life and accomplishments of Samuel Hahnemann. Located on the edge of Scott Circle, the impressive monument consists of a life-sized bronze statue and bas reliefs, with a stunning glass mosaic arching in the background. Commissioned by the American Institute of Homeopathy, the Memorial was dedicated on June 21, 1900 and re-dedicated exactly a century later on June 21, 2000. Since then the AIH has raised funds to support a restoration project intended to reverse recent neglect and deterioration to various parts of the Memorial. MORE  |
